Ruud Weenink

Ermelo

Netherlands

Ruud Weenink spent much of his childhood in the woods surrounding his native village of Ermelo that is located on the edge of Holland's largest and oldest national park "The Hoge Veluwe". Local fauna, especially birds, has always been a source of inspiration.

         Ruud Weenink

He successfully followed the 'Akademie voor Beeldende Vorming' (Academy of Fine Arts) at Amersfoort, Holland.

Afterwards he pursued a dual career as an art teacher and a painter, specializing in wildlife art with a main interest for birds.

Ruud's detailed paintings are mostly made of a combination of acrylics and gouache, a technique that makes his detailed artwork stand out as striking and original. His sketches are made on location. The paintings are made in the studio.

Many of his artworks have been published as limited edition prints by Brunott-productions and Verkerke.

He has exhibited in Holland's most prominent wildlife art galleries like the "Kunsthuis van 't Oosten", the Nature museum at Castle Doorwerth, gallery "De Zonneruiter" at Schiphol, gallery "Smith in Style" and Museum "Het Aardhuis" at the National park "The Hoge Veluwe".
